Following a degree in Psychology and some years working in industry as a Behaviour Scientist, I trained as a Psychodynamic Counsellor. I began work in private practice in 1998.
My further training as an Attachment Based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist leads me to understand our relationships with ourselves and others are at the heart of our sense of safety and our place in the world.
I am a qualified Supervisor (WPF). I work with groups and individuals supporting them in their work and helping them to become more able practitioners. I have taught in colleges since 2006, currently at Basingstoke College of Technology.
I have been trained with STOPSO (Stop Sexual Offending) qualified to work with those experiencing issues with online pornography/child pornography and fear of sexual offending and stopping sexual offending.
I run training days and workshops in the areas of attachment, relational practice and ethics.
I also will write and run training on request.
I enjoy my contribution on the Ethics Committee of the UKCP helping to consider the issues at the heart of the profession.
I have had my chapter "The use of telephone and Skype in psychotherapy: reflections of an attachment therapist" published by Karnac in the book "Love in the age of the internet" in 2014.
I am a part of the following organisations and adhere to their codes of ethics and procedures:
UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists) - June 2012
United Kingdom Register of Counsellors - Nov 2003
British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy - Nov 2003
